APA Requirements for Crediting Sources Accurately

In order to be part of the academic writing community, there are certain requirements to be followed. The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA) is the appropriate documentation system to follow in Psychology and other Social Science fields, such as Education. Among APA guidelines, this paper will focus on in-text citations and references: the sources cited in in-text citations (either paraphrased, parenthetical, block or direct quotation) have to be included in the reference list, in alphabetical order and double-spaced, and at the same time, every entry in the list must be cited on the paper. The aim of this analysis is to evaluate the level of completion of APA guidelines for in-text citations and references in the article Beyond Reflection: Teaching Learning as Praxis by Hoffman-Kipp, Artiles and López-Torres (2003). A human mountain of clothes

It was the beginning of winter when the year 3 teacher, Miss Gill, had planned to teach vocabulary on clothes and actions related to them. For that purpose, she took to school a bag full of clothes and accessories. As soon as the students settled down, the teacher called the roll and began explaining the objective of the lesson. They were going to play a game, so Miss Gill divided the students into two groups. She told them to use the book to revise very quickly all the vocabulary related to clothes because later on, during the game, they were not going to be able to use it. Each group had to choose an item of clothing and using the correct language, tell the teacher what to do with it. She gave an example, “Fasten the belt.” and the game started. Miss Gill had to remind them many times of the rules, such as, to listen to each other and to take turns to talk.
